Afzal Khan

After completing articles at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PWC) in Durban, Afzal accepted a managerial position in the firm's Corporate Finance division in Johannesburg where he obtained significant experience performing due diligence reviews, valuations, deal structuring, negotiations and raising capital for clients.

Afzal subsequently moved as manager to PWC's Global Risk Management Solutions business where he was involved in Internal Control Assurance. His responsibilities included performing and managing internal control reviews, SAP parallel testing reviews and the development of policies and procedure manuals.

An interest in tax lead to Afzal accepting a senior manager position in the Tax and Legal Services division at PWC where he advised the firm's major corporate clients on all aspects of taxation.

Afzal further expanded his tax knowledge and experience by joining the South African Revenue Services' "Woodmead Project" based in Cape Town. Afzal's responsibility included developing an integrated approach for tax audits of major corporate entities, providing technical support to the team and ensuring that the SARS quality control standards were maintained.

His strong views on compliance with legislation and voluntary compliance, the respect which he enjoys from his peers and his high ethical standards as a tax practitioner, enable Afzal to resolve his clients tax matters efficiently and effectively.

Afzal is currently the managing partner of RAFT.
